Fleischmann history
Fleischmann is a German manufacturer of model railways. It was founded in 1887 by Jean Fleischmann as a toy company. Its first model railway, in 0 scale, was produced in 1949. The first H0 scale products were introduced in 1952 and the N scale ‘Picolo’ product line started production in 1969.
Today, Fleischmann is a well-established German brand in the model railway industry, rivalling Märklin in the stock market.
Fleischmann produces virtually only models from Central Europe. For this reason, it is somewhat unknown outside this area. The vast majority of the models produced by Fleischmann are made for the two-rail DC system. However, some versions of their locomotives are produced for the Märklin three-rail AC system; as well as non-insulated wheel sets for use by their wagons in the three-rail AC system.
