Viquim history
Viquim was an H0 scale miniature train manufacturing company based in Barcelona, which manufactured from 1946 onwards trains of great solidity and quality. All the cars and wagons, and also part of the locomotive housings, are made of photo-etched and lithographed brass, and the frames of the engines and the roofs of the cast cars.
As was usual in the foundry of this period, also in other Spanish and foreign manufacturers, due to carelessness or lack of knowledge, the castings were not well purified, which caused the catastrophic deterioration of the calamine that disintegrated due to lead and copper contamination under certain conditions of temperature and humidity.
This was also one of the reasons for the decline and disappearance of Viquim.
